The really groundbreaking thing about the Trump people’s lying is that they do so with absolute shamelessness. If they’re caught out they just add a bigger lie. Most politicians, even the practised liars, show some flicker of awareness that their credibility might be shaky. This team just keeps lying louder, longer and even more “bigly”.
Exactly my opinion, thanks! I am still wondering how this “Plot against America” (to quote the title of a Philip Roth novel) was possible at all, and what will be the consequences for us all. In Europe it is obvious that Trump and Putin are working in the same direction: complete destruction of the European Union and all other structures that secured peace and relative prosperity for decades after WWII, by almost all means, particularly by large scale media manipulation. (And I am not prone to believe in conspiracy theories.) I am rather pessimistic regarding the near future, especially when Trump’s ideological friends would win the elections in France and the Netherlands.
I’m starting to have some optimism that the administration will just blow up under its own incompetence. Kellyanne Conway, one of the most blatant liars, has been banned by both CNN and Morning Joe (which is normally a Trump-friendly site) because you can’t believe a word she says. Regardless, the Republicans are still in control and they don’t show any signs of enlightenment on any front.
